SMS, mobile phones, digital cameras, interactive TV

Media Culpa & Hans Kullin
1. Please introduce yourself?
I am a PR practitioner from Sweden with 9 years
experience from public relations, first as a PR consultant at three different PR
agencies in Stockholm, mainly with clients in the IT and business to business
sectors, like Compaq, Ericsson Mobile Phones etc. Then I served as
PR Manager at Accenture, the world's largest IT and management consultancy, for
three years. I am currently working as Marketing Communications Manager at
Linklaters in Sweden, one of the leading global law firms.
I have been running my own webpage (http://www.geocities.com/prmania/)
about PR since 1997 and put up my PR blog Media Culpa in February 2004.
2. Do you know who the first PR blogger in the
world is? Where is he/she come from?
From what I know, Tom Murphy at PR Opinions (http://www.natterjackpr.com/)
started his blog first (March 2002). He is
based in Dublin, Ireland but works most of the time in the US.
3. Please define electronic pr (your Point of
view)?
"Electronic PR" is not a term I amvery used to, but I guess should mean the use
of modern technology in Public Relations. Since the development of technology
changes the way people communicate, it also changes the PR profession.
4. Is it difference between online pr, digital pr,
ePr or cyber Pr?
If there is a difference between these terms, I would say that online PR and
cyber PR
are two labels of any Public Relations activities that takes place on or use
the Internet, while digital PR or ePR are labels of PR activities that use
any form of digital communications such as SMS, mobile phones, digital cameras,
interactive TV and so on.
5. Please tell me a name of good electronic Pr in
anywhere? Do you know a good website (didactic) about ePr?
http://www.e-pr.org has a very good knowledge section about ePR.
6. Please discuss about the Public relations of
Swedish banks and rule of them in eBanking? And (if you know) please introduce
an article or presentation about it?
Swedes often like to complain about their banks, they believe that the big banks
charge high prices and generally don't want to see the customers, which to some
extent is true. Swedish banks have been very successful
in transferring a lot of the work involved in banking from the bank itself
and over to the customer.
First via telephone banking, then via internet. At the end of last year, 5,2 out
of 9 million Swedes used internet Banking to handle their contacts with the
bank, which saves a lot of work for the banks.
The Swedish Bankers? Association have worked with PR to show how happy Swedes
are with their banks. They publish a lot of surveys on their webpage with
information like ?83% of Swedes are either happy or very happy
with their bank?.
http://www.bankforeningen.se/In%20English/Publications%20--a--%20statistics.aspx
There has also been a lot of deregulations in the banking market over he last
decade or so, which has meant that the big banks have had
to work harder with external communications not just to fend off their "normal"
competitors, but also a lot of newcomers that have entered their market. For
instance, players like ICA (www.ica.se), the grocery chain, has started a bank,
so has IKANO (ww.ikanobanken.se) which is the
financial arm of the IKEA corporation.
One of the four big banks, SEB (www.seb.se), work a lot with PR andsponsoring.
They have been participating in the sail race Volvo Ocean Race which have
generated lots of publicity for the bank.
